California Association of Food Banks
Itzúl Gutiérrez is a senior policy advocate at the California Association of Food Banks where she leads state and federal advocacy efforts on School Meals for All, Summer EBT, and the Farm Bill. Prior to CAFB she worked in food banking for over a decade as an advocate and program manager overseeing child nutrition and food distribution programs along with disaster response. Her lived experience as a participant of school meals and food banks informs her work and college-bound programs contributed to her being the first in her family to attend and graduate college – an experience that cemented in her the need for such programs to support disadvantaged students and their families. Itzúl is a mother of two boys who loves making art, gardening, and plays in a garage rock band.
